Treatment:

  • Hearing Aids - For more information, visit our hearing aids page
  • Pressure equalization tubes (Ear tubes) - Placement of pressure equalization tubes is done by making a small incision in the eardrum (myringotomy) and then placing a special tube in the area of the incision.  This is performed to allow drainage of any fluid that may build up behind the eardrum and also to equalize the pressure across the eardrum.  The procedure is either performed in the clinic or the operating room.  Tubes generally last about one year before falling out.  For more information on ear tubes visit the American Academy of Otolaryngology
  • Earwax removal - Removal of earwax is a procedure performed in the clinic using a microscope, special ear instruments, and micro-suctions to remove excessive ear wax causing hearing loss, discomfort, and ear fullness.  The procedure is well tolerated and performed on the same day as your clinic visit. For more information on earwax and ear care
  • Tympanoplasty - A tympanoplasty is an outpatient surgery which is performed using a microscope to rebuild the eardrum and sometimes replace the ear bones.  This is performed to fix a hole in the ear drum and restore certain types of hearing loss.  Recovery is usually a few days to a week. For more information on perforated eardrums and tympanoplasty.
  • Vestibular rehabilitation therapy - This is a specialized form of physical therapy used to treat certain types of dizziness and vestibular disorders.  Types of therapy and duration depend on your diagnosis.  This type of treatment is performed at outpatient rehabilitation centers in the surrounding area.
